As the global economy navigates towards a low-carbon transition, what are the economic and financial vulnerabilities and opportunities of delaying or achieving a low-carbon transition? Do current modelling tools enable us to adequately quantify these vulnerabilities in order to avoid a disorderly low-carbon transition? Under what conditions is the balance between decarbonisation and macroeconomic stability achieved? These are some of the questions which will be discussed in this seminar.

The Centre for Sustainability Transitions at Stellenbosch University, in partnership with the GEMMES Unit of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group, invite you to the first instalment of our seminar series, “Vulnerabilities and opportunities in macro-finance and macroeconomy in the face of climate change”. The seminar will be delivered by Prof Antoine Godin, economist, modeler, and head of the GEMMES Unit.
