The SES Research Methods website, launched last year, is a collaborative repository of training resources for Social-Ecological Systems methods. The Centre for Sustainability is one of those collaborators. This website is targeted at graduate students, lecturers and researchers working on SES, and aims to provide accessible content on commonly used SES methods, generated by experts in the field. We would like to take the impact of sesmethods.org to even greater heights, with your help!

The website hosts 38 dynamic videos contributed by over 55 experts, but we are aiming to grow this number to make the website even more useful to users around the world. If you are an established researcher or postdoc, or an advanced PhD student working in SES, we would like to invite you to provide further interesting case studies, method summaries, teaching activities and other reflections based on your SES work.

We invite you to participate in a collaborative online Hackathon aimed at creating more educational content to advance the SES Methods website. This is a chance to showcase the application of methods in diverse contexts, network with other SES researchers, help build teaching and research capacity around the world, increase the visibility of your work through citable resources, and contribute to a non-commercial, open-source resource through global collaboration.

This Hackathon will span three online sessions, with the aim of developing a short video or teaching activity on a particular method over this time. The first session will introduce the website, discuss potential contributions, and identify groups to work in (if desired), after which you will work on your contributions in your own time. The second session will equip you with strategies and resources for effective communication, for recording and preparing your contributions for submission before the third session. The third session will be a chance to see each other’s work and discuss how we can improve training on methods as a collective. Register here.

Join us in this exciting endeavour!
