Profile

Nirvana graduated with a BA Development and Environmental studies degree in 2018 and went straight into the PGDip in Sustainable development and graduated in 2019. After two years of working in the non-government organisation and start-up space, Nirvana decided to pursue her Master’s in Sustainable Development at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions where she is now a MPhil candidate.

At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nirvana was moved by the collective aid action movements happening globally. At the same time, Nirvana was working with NGOs, private companies and local authorities to organise and distribute food aid to various communities in Stellenbosch. This sparked a need to understand how social networks are formed and fostered between individuals and organisations during a time of crisis which is now the prime focus of Nirvana’s research for her MPhil.
