Lionel Bowman Bursary/Prize

Who qualifies? One bursary/prize is awarded annually to a student for the best interpretation of a complete solo piano work by Beethoven for adjudication.

Particulars: Students are to compete for this prize. Applicants must give a public performance of a complete work by Beethoven in the presence of adjudicators.

Betsie Cluver

Who qualifies? A single bursary for the BMus student with the overall best achievement in Piano as the principal instrument in his or her third year of study.

Laetitia Morkel Bursary Fund

Who qualifies? Financially needy BMus students (piano) who are also academically deserving.

Particulars: Students must excel in piano and be academically deserving. Suitable candidates will be considered by the Music Department.

Smallie Scholarship

Who qualifies? Notably deserving, full-time student(s) of piano, violin or voice.

Particulars: One or two scholarships are awarded annually for a maximum period of two years.
The awards are made in consultation with the Department of Music. From the Estate of the late Ms LE Smallie.

Stellenbosch University Women’s Association

Who qualifies?
This bursary is awarded to a deserving prospective third-year student for musical performance (any instrument or singing). Applicants are required, towards the end of their second year of study, to perform a short programme in public in the presence of adjudicators.
