Dr. Susan Hall

Dr Susan Hall is a senior lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Centre for Applied Ethics. She completed her PhD studies in 2012, completing a dissertation entitled ‘Harm and Enhancement: Philosophical and Ethical Perspectives’ under the supervision of Prof Anton Van Niekerk. She received a scholarship for her PhD studies from the Graduate School of Stellenbosch University. She was appointed as a temporary lecturer in 2013, and joined the department permanently in 2015.  Her primary research interests are in Bioethics, and specifically the ethics of human enhancement and ethical issues related to technological advancement. She is currently working on ethical issues related to the participation of athletes with intersex conditions in sporting competition.
